Did They Survive?

We left off with the sign saying our Ropeway would be going OVER a volcano!!    I'm sure you've been worried since. Wondering if we made it back alive and safe!  Keep reading to find out....

So we boarded the Ropeway.  It was a nice smooth ride.

Kids showed up again for another picture!!  I've always got their back.   Bwhahahaha. (get it?  I'm holding them up?)

Dave....alive and well.....so far....

MOUNT FUJI!!!  Hiding it's peek...hide'n go peek?

Steam coming out of Mount Owakudani.  The active volcano we were travelling over.

Oh not travelling over..... stopping....and getting out!!!

On the other side was this whole sulfer smelling spot where it looks like they were venting the volcano.  Gonna do some research on that too.

The red circle is the zone we we're in.  They did have emergency procedures in place.

A trail you can normally walk up unless volcano levels are high....why is this truck parked in front to close the trail...  Oh no!?!?!   Wait...oh, it's just super muddy on the trail. Phew.

Beer from the top!!

Ok. Realize now I didn't get a picture of the black eggs they sell at the top.  Apparently they are cooked in the hot springs, and because of the sulfer and iron, they turn black.  I'll try to insert a picture of one from the web.  They are supposedly good luck.  We didn't realize what it was all about until it was too late. Or I may have tried one.

So we decide it's time to continue and head down.  So we get back on the Ropeway and head down the other side.

We are handed this to cover our mouths on the trip down due to high sulfer levels.

This is over the spot I said seems to be venting steam.

Bye Mount Fuji!!!  I love you!!!

So, we get off and stand in line for....a cable car!!!

It was a very cool way to get down a large part of the mountain.

Then we get onto... A train that takes us back to Hakone.  Where we take the regular train back to Tokyo.

We take the subway back to our hotel.  Shower. Cuz we stink.  And then decide we want All American pizza for dinner.  Up the road is a great place where we had pizza salad, very yummy, and pizza!!

Great adventure!  And we lived to tell!!!
